AN ENDEAVOR: FISHING IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST

Commercial fishing (rather...shrimping) in the deep blue water off the coast of Washington.  No land in sight, few visible signs of wildlife other than seagulls, and yet schools of shrimp are brought up from the deep by the thousands.  I marvel at how the captain can pilot out into a seemingly endless blue pool and find organisms no larger than a peanut.

Most of the vessels shown dock in Warrenton, OR at the mouth of the Columbia River.
